Air racing is as popular now as it was a during the early years of powered aviation and modellers
looking to combine the spirit of the past with speed and performance in the form of a scale
classic racer should look no further than Hangar 9’s latest release, the Denight Special.
This great looking model delivers great flying characteristics together with all the looks and
glamour of a bygone age in air racing.
This almost ready to fly plane is a scale model of Bart Denight’s 1950’s Reno racer, complete
with its traditional trim cream and red colour scheme and matching helmeted pilot.
Hangar 9’s Denight Special provides the look of a classic racer with a smooth, crisp, and precise
flight performance that is well within the grasp of less experienced pilots. This is due in part to
the generous wing area and light wing loading and the lightweight balsa and plywood used in
construction.
A comprehensive hardware pack and photo illustrated assembly guide make assembly a quick
and enjoyable experience and the model may be made flight ready in a few evenings, perhaps
less if choosing electric power and for modelers using a conventional two or four stroke engine a
transparent dummy engine cowling is included making cowling installation a lot easier.
The model may be powered by either a conventional glow engine mounted on its side to
maintain the clean lines of the airplane, or easily converted to electric power for silent racing!
Whatever version you choose the Denight is just that little bit different to guarantee you an
audience at your local flying field.
